I am qualified to teach Yoga to Children aged 2-18 and also hold an NNEB Level 3 qualification. I have worked as a Child Care professional for over 20 years, and am also a mother of 3. I‘ve been practicing yoga for 8 years and find yoga to be a real stress reliever, it helps to keep the body active and the mind peaceful.
Children’s Yoga with Julie helps children learn how to move their body with control, balance and coordinated breathing. Not only will this help develop children’s gross motor skills, it also teaches them tools to support their mental health, including anxiety.
I have different styles of classes for the different age groups. Each week the younger children are taken on a different yoga story, such as a journey to the rainforest, a springtime walk or a quest to find a dragon. The older children have a class that looks a lot like an adults class but at a gentler pace, in a smaller group and with a focus on their changing minds and bodies. I bring in yoga games to practice poses in a fun and playful way, and partner poses too when I feel the group is ready or happy to take part.
Every class finishes with a lie down in a blanket and with an eye pillow if they would like it. We may listen to music, listen to a story or guided imagery meditation or practice Yoga Nidra.
My current class timetable:
Monday's 7-7.55pm school years 6+
8.05-9pm boys only school years 6+.
Tuesday's: 1.45pm Nursery and Pre school.
Wednesday's: 6-6.55pm school years 5-7
7.05-8.00pm school years 6+
Saturday's: 9.00-10.50am school years R-2
10.05-11.00am school years 3-5
11.05-12.00 school years 6+
Parties and club sessions also available.
